Central Florida drainage design has to contend with flat terrain, a high water table and sandy soils, so stormwater work rarely stops at pipe and inlets. SDC self-performs the full drainage scope — storm sewer and structures, pond excavation and grading, underdrain, exfiltration pipe and outfall construction — on the same sites where our earthwork, utility and paving crews are already working.
Because drainage is installed by the same contractor handling excavation and paving, pipe depth, pond grading and subgrade all get sequenced together instead of across separate subcontracts. Our recent storm drainage work ranges from 22,838 LF on a single Osceola County residential development to double-barrel 12' x 9' box culverts on the Universal Epic Universe resort sites.
What We Self-Perform
Pond excavation and grading
Stormwater pond excavation, subsoil removal, pond bottom grading, slopes and sodding — including over-excavation and replacement of pond bottom soils to restore infiltration.
Underdrain and exfiltration systems
Type II pond underdrain, roadway underdrain and corrugated exfiltration pipe where the design relies on subsurface recovery rather than surface storage.
Filtration media and treatment
Placement of engineered filtration media such as Bold & Gold where specified in the project design.
Soft-soil and groundwater conditions
Subsoil excavation, geogrid, wick drains and surcharge embankment on sites where the drainage and roadway design has to be built over poor soils.
Erosion control and restoration
Erosion and sediment control, rip rap, final grade, sodding and grassing over completed drainage work.

How We Work
1. Drainage plan review
We review the drainage plan, geotechnical report and permit conditions, flag conflicts with existing utilities and price the storm scope line by line.
2. Dewatering and sequencing
Dewatering, trench protection, pond phasing and erosion control are planned before excavation starts, so deep runs go in safely.
3. Installation
Pipe, structures, underdrain and pond grading are installed and verified against the design, with safety ranked above schedule and production.
4. Certification support
Final grade, sod, restoration and the as-built documentation your engineer needs to certify the stormwater system.
